Southwark Women's Forum

The Southwark Women’s Forum is a monthly support group facilitated by and for women who have experienced or are experiencing challenges with their mental health.

The primary objectives of the forum are to provide mental health and wellbeing support and both community and social engagement.

What can I expect from this group?

You can expect a safe, supportive space run by and for women who have experienced or are experiencing difficulty with mental health. The group offers members an opportunity for honest, open discussion with women who can share similar experiences.

Peer support differs from other forms of mental health support in important ways. Conducted within a group setting, participants play an active role in creating a safe environment where they can use their shared experiences to give and receive support from each other.

The group is led by trained Peer Support Facilitators who have lived experience of mental health challenges and use their own personal experiences to support the members.  They  also connect them with the wider community,  encouraging their participation in trips and events, and connecting them with support services that can offer specialist advice, information, and support.

When is Southwark Women’s Forum held?

The forum meets face-to-face as a group once a month on the second Friday of every month, from 12pm – 2pm in Southwark.

The group is for women aged 18+ who are resident in the London Borough of Southwark and are experiencing low to moderate mental health needs.
