On Sunday 3rd September 2023, BLG Mind’s team of 6 very committed fundraisers and runners took on the Big Half.
The Big Half is a wonderful race, organised by London Marathon Events. Starting on Tower Bridge, the route runs through the Docklands, then back across Tower Bridge to finish in front of the Cutty Sark. Runners cross two of BLG Mind’s boroughs – Lewisham and Greenwich. The organisation and crowd support is always good, and in the end, over 15,000 people finished the race.
It turned out to be a beautiful, but unexpectedly hot day. Probably not ideal conditions for running your fastest time, but otherwise a glorious day to run through some of the streets of South East London chasing down Mo Farah.
Our team of runners included Richard Grove (pictured above), Russell Buchanan, John Heffernan, Amyleigh Hawkins, Alice Cross and Joe Wiggett (pictured left) from our corporate partner AC Wilgar.
We are incredibly grateful to each of our runners for putting in such amazing efforts in both their training and their fundraising.
Our runners’ feedback:
‘This is one of my favourite Half Marathons, and even better, I’m raising money for BLG Mind, thank you for giving me the opportunity to run it again.’
