Fundraisers work up a sweat for BLG Mind

Energetic fundraisers took part in a three-and-a-half-hour aerobathon in September, raising a whopping £3,700 so far for our vital support services.

More than 100 enthusiastic exercisers pulled on their workout gear to participate in the event, which was organised by Fran Flin, the owner of Flin’s Fitness in Orpington.

They enjoyed a high energy, fun-filled exercise programme led by professional instructors. There was an array of action-packed activities on offer, including cross-training, conditioning, boxing fitness, zumba and yoga flow.

Fran said the aerobathon was a huge success, despite its timing proving challenging.

“I wasn’t sure how it was going to go, after an enforced break due to the pandemic, then the cost of living crisis and then the passing of the Queen.

“But – wow! – we had a brilliant, exciting, fun and moving event with so many highlights. It would have been nowhere near as good without some wonderful people helping behind the scenes and on the day, and baking cakes and cookies to sell.”

The homemade treats, together with a raffle with prizes donated by local individuals and businesses, raised £1,300 alone.

Among those joining in the action at Tubbeden Primary School on a Saturday morning was BLG Mind’s very own Debbie Witherick.

The Finance and Resources director said: “It was so amazing to see how many of Fran’s loyal customers turned out to support BLG Mind, get fitter and eat cake!

“Thank you to you all for your donations, and to Fran and her team for all your work on the day and in the lead-up to the event. We are really very grateful for your support.”
