Grant Saw names BLG Mind their Charity of the Year

We are delighted to announce Grant Saw Solicitors LLP have chosen Bromley, Lewisham & Greenwich Mind as their Charity of the Year 2020/21.

Grant Saw, who have offices in Greenwich, Blackheath and Sidcup, are aiming to raise more than £2,500 for BLG Mind through staff fundraising activities and volunteering. They will also be donating £1 from every client service survey completed.

As well as raising vital funds, the team plans to give talks on topics including wills and power of attorney, as well as providing legal advice to carers who use BLG Mind services.

Established in 1851, Grant Saw has a long history of supporting local people and causes. They have previously raised funds for Age Exchange, Alzheimer’s Society and Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice.

The firm’s head of Private Client, Kalpa Prajapati, said: “We are pleased to be supporting a charity which carries out vital work in our local community by ensuring that people with mental health needs and dementia have an improved quality of life.

“Mental health and wellbeing are important to us as a firm, and we have provided staff with training on mindfulness and coping with the pressures of the profession, as well as having a member of staff trained as a mental health first-aider. We think that the charity’s work will be even more vital as the various consequences of COVID-19 become apparent.

“We are looking forward to working with BLG Mind over the next year. Look out for details of our upcoming fundraising initiatives.”

Ben Taylor, Chief Executive of BLG Mind, said: “We are delighted that we’re going to be working alongside Grant Saw over the coming year, and that BLG Mind was chosen as their charity of the year through a staff vote, which shows many at the company already understand the importance of local mental health and dementia support.

“The coronavirus outbreak is putting additional strains on people’s mental health, whilst charity funding is being squeezed, so having the support of Grant Saw is really timely and very welcome.”
