Local Businesses Volunteer for MindCare

A firm of solicitors and a marketing company from Bromley sent volunteers to MindCare Dementia Support as part of their corporate social responsibility, staff wellbeing and development programmes.

Trafalgar Marketing

On 5th December 2019, local Bromley company, Trafalgar Marketing, visited MindCare Dementia Support Activity Centre in Beckenham as gardening volunteers. Over the course of the day, the team of 11 volunteers tidied up the garden, and painted benches for clients with dementia to use.

In addition, the 11 volunteers learnt about how MindCare supports local people to live with dementia and more about the disease.

Feedback from the volunteers included:

“It’s a great cause and we are glad we could get involved.”

“I have learnt about dementia, things I did not know.”

Thackray Williams Solicitors

On 18th December 2019, Christmas Elves (volunteers) from Thackray William Solicitors attend the Beckenham MindCare Christmas Party, alongside Joe Hara, Local Business Manager from Metro Bank in Bromley, and animal therapy provided by Carol Lock. The Christmas Party is an annual event for people with dementia and their families to create new memories.

This year, the festivities were supported by Thackray Williams Solicitors, who have made BLG Mind their Charity of the Year and have been fundraising throughout the year. Linda and Natasha from Thackray Williams volunteered at the MindCare Christmas Party serving food and drink and gave Christmas gifts to guests.

Linda said, “Witnessing how happy it makes people, we should celebrate and live each day as if it is a Christmas party.”
