Improving Mental Health Services for Vulnerable Migrants in Lewisham

The Community Support Service in Lewisham has secured funding of £3,000 as part of national Mind’s Equality Improvement Programme.

With the funding, the Community Support Service will be working to:

  • ensure that vulnerable migrant groups are better informed about mental health services and are more confident about accessing them
  • train migrant group representatives to engage with and meaningfully influence local the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG)
  • influence the CCG to support migrant mental health services
  • contribute to an “Influencer Manual” to support the London Mind network and Community Representatives with this work.

Lewisham is one of seven boroughs across London participating in this project. The project will run until June 2017 culminating in a pan-London event and a final report on the commitment secured from local CCG, learning, challenges and recommendations.
