Help Make Lewisham a Dementia Friendly Community

The Dementia Action Alliance is providing free Dementia Awareness Workshops and Training for members of the public on Monday 18 May 2015, 10am to 4pm (lunch will be provided) at the Civic Suite, Lewisham Town Hall, Catford Road, SE6 4RU.

Everyone knows someone with dementia. Dementia is everyone’s business. Come along and help make Lewisham a dementia friendly community.

In Lewisham there are about 2,120 people living with dementia and this is likely to increase in the years to come. Over two thirds of these people are living in the local Lewisham community and are frequent customers in local businesses and services.

People living with dementia often lose confidence in themselves and worry about how they will cope with everyday life. Families and carers can equally feel overwhelmed, lonely and worried about their loved ones.

This is where members of the Lewisham public and this free dementia awareness event come in. People with dementia can be supported by you doing some very simple things.

Find out more and join the Dementia Action Alliance at this free Dementia Awareness event on Monday 18 May at the Civic Suite, Civic Suite at  Lewisham Town Hall on Catford Road.

There will be a variety of workshops and training sessions to learn about dementia, how you can help people in everyday life, learn about the support that is already available to people with dementia and their carers and make Lewisham a dementia friendly community.
