Invitation to Tender

Culturally Diverse Communities Projects

for the London Borough of Lewisham

The Culturally Diverse Communities Projects are new initiatives designed to provide wellbeing and mental health support across the borough of Lewisham. Working with our partners at South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and across the local mental health system BLG Mind are seeking to work with local organisations to address  long-standing inequalities affecting people from culturally diverse communities, who have often not been well served by mental health services.

The project aims are to:

  • Support individuals from culturally diverse communities who are struggling with their wellbeing or mental health
  • Provide direct support to individuals/groups to improve their mental health or maintain their wellbeing
  • Encourage a Peer Support approach to positively impact people’s health & wellbeing and challenge stigma in our communities
  • Guide & support other community/voluntary organisations and health/social care providers on different approaches to connecting and engaging with individuals who have previously felt excluded
  • Enable more people from culturally diverse communities to receive quality support for their mental health and wellbeing that works for them

BLG Mind is looking to commission up to four organisations across Lewisham to engage with parts of the community who have previously not felt able, comfortable or confident to reach out and ask for support and receive the help they need.

As well as connecting with culturally diverse communities and providing direct support to individuals to improve their mental health, the providers will be asked to bridge the gap between the voluntary sector, local community groups/support and mental health services funded through health or social care. This will require positively influencing these organisations to look at the way they operate and how they look to engage with patients/clients.
