Multi-Faith Chaplaincy – SLAM

< Back to directory

Overview

The role of the chaplaincy team is to address the pastoral, religious and spiritual needs of people who use our services and their carers, and our staff.

The chaplaincy team is for everyone, regardless of their faith, ethnicity, culture, gender or sexual identity. They are experienced in working with people from all faith communities and those who identify with none.  Although the chaplains come from a variety of traditions they work closely with a wide range of faith communities across south London.

Trained chaplains and volunteers are available to spend time with anyone who needs a listening ear or would like to talk through their experience.

They can provide:

  • Confidential one-to-one conversations at times of difficulty, stress and uncertainty
  • Ongoing spiritual care and emotional support
  • Opportunities for worship and reflection (there are dedicated spaces for prayer and quiet at our hospitals)
  • Religious care (for example, prayer and readings) and they can contact faith representatives on your behalf
  • Support groups (for example, on loss and grief)
  • Advice around religious and spiritual care
