The National Bullying Helpline is a voluntary run helpline. Their service is aimed at everyone bullied at work, at home, in the community or in education.

Provides information and advice about bullying at work and bullying at school for children, parents and employees.

Most people understand bullying as behaviour by an individual or group, repeated over time, that is intended to hurt another individual or group either physically or emotionally. If you are struggling with bullying, harassment, cyberbullying or anti-social behaviour issues, this website should enable you to identify solutions and remedies along with practical help.

All bullying, whatever the motivation or method is unacceptable and should not be tolerated. It can affect anyone and we are all potential targets – whether we are adults, or children or the bullying is at school, in the community, at work, online or at home.

By law, all schools must have measures in place to prevent bullying and teachers, pupils and parents should be told what that policy is. A school’s involvement in tackling bullying should not start at the point at which a child or student has been bullied. Good schools develop an ethos to prevent bullying from happening in the first place. When bullying does occur, it is important for schools to respond promptly, support the bullied pupil and ensure that bullying does not happen again.

Likewise, employers should have robust procedures in place to deal with bullying in the workplace. If you are being bullied, talk to your employer and find out what procedures and policies are in place and find out how to make a formal complaint using your employer’s grievance procedure.

The volunteers on the Helpline have experience in dispute resolution and employment law. They will advise you on the best course of action regarding your bullying or harassment situation. Despite not being a charity, the organisation offers free and confidential assistance with your grievances.
