Originally founded in  1985 as a tranquilliser withdrawal group, the Bristol Tranquilliser Project (BTP) is a voluntary organisation set up to help people who are experiencing involuntary addiction to prescribed minor tranquillisers, sleeping pills and antidepressants.  Most services – counselling, one-to-one prescribed drug counselling, self-help groups and a drop-in service – are only available to people living in the Bristol area, but the BTP also offers a phone helpline that is available to anyone living in the UK.

The Helpline:

They provide a full range of services to those living in Bristol. The helpline is also available to those living in other parts of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

To contact them please telephone the Helpline on 0117 950 0020.  They are open 10 am – 3.30 pm Monday – Thursday.

The helpline is often very busy and they are unable to return calls, so please keep trying.  They do not offer support or advice via emails.
There is information on the website about various prescription drugs.
