Africa Advocacy Foundation works with vulnerable and disadvantaged communities both in the UK and overseas who are affected by a range of issues including sexual and reproductive health, violence against women and girls, female genital mutilation (FGM) and mental health issues.

They empower individuals to take control of their health and wellbeing through accurate information, advice and guidance. They provide safe, judgement-free and inclusive platforms for community members to discuss and engage in activities that promote healthy lifestyle choices.

They also provide information, advocacy, advice, practical support and training through a range of projects and partnership activities. Please visit their programme page here, drop in the AAF offices, call them or use the contact form on their website.

Mental Health & Wellbeing

There are a vast number of issues that can negatively impact our mental health and well-being, including physical illness and injury; relationships; parenting; divorce; bereavement; finances; housing situation; and caring responsibilities and abuse.

AAF believes that no person should have to face these issues alone.  Therefore they run weekly volunteer led activities to address issues that affect beneficiaries including women and children and their personal experiences of FGM, HIV, domestic violence and sexual exploitation.

A team of 4 trained volunteers runs their Community Mental Health Champions activities which aim to recruit and train community members to have conversations on mental health. They also run light exercise activities through Yoga for Health sessions each Thursday at 12pm.
