Bromley Recovery and Wellbeing College, part of Bromley Recovery Works, offers workshops and courses which combine enjoyment, fun and knowledge to enable students to achieve a greater insight into their own mental wellbeing.

Our "Understanding Mental Health Problems" Courses

Social Anxiety Sessions

This course is an introduction to social anxiety. We will explore the history of anxiety and why we are biologically programmed to feel anxious in certain social situations.

Looking at our own social identity, we will consider stereotypes and prejudice and how we compare ourselves to others.

The course will offer simple techniques to overcome or at least minimise the impact of social anxiety.

In this course we will look at the factors impacting the lives and experiences of men and the challenge of overcoming these issues. We will:

  • Increase awareness of issues related to men
  • Share recent developments
  • Explore complexities of men’s mental health

Get Active Sessions

This is a series of gentle walks around Kelsey Park, ideal for those who would like to become more active but who feel nervous about joining a regular walking group. Sally Baxter is an experienced photographer; she will be on hand to give advice about technique and composition.

There is no need to have an expensive camera, most mobile phones today take excellent pictures. If you are not interested in photography, just come along and enjoy the walk, it is a great way to meet people. The group will be having a refreshment break in the Park’s café. All are welcome from complete novices to the more experienced.

The group maintains and grows a wide range of plants, including flowers, soft fruit, and vegetables in three allotments.
